Testing competitions within the preparation for the inaugural Games of Future will be held in Kazan in September. These will be 4 technological sports disciplines which are included in the games program. It was announced by the deputy chairman of the Russian government Dmitry Chernyshenko.

”The first inspection visit to Kazan of the Games’ organizing committee has just been completed. Specialists inspected the arenas to be used when holding the tournament in 2024. It was decided that testing competitions of the Games of Future will kick-off in Kazan already in September. It will be the first ever phygital tournament in 4 technological sports disciplines. It will make it possible both for the athletes and the organizers to realize what one should focus on when preparing for the main event. In addition, till the end of the year the organizers plan to hold in Kazan testing tournaments in other disciplines” – said Dmitry Chernyshenko.
Within their inspection visit the organizers of the Games of Future namely inspected the sites Kazan Expo, Basket-Hall, Sports Palace, Tatneft Arena, Piramida, Ak Bars Arena and the village of the Universiade.
”In September Kazan will host the Kazan Digital Week and the competition for the president’s cup called ‘Cyberpark’, so early autumn is poised to be technological in all senses. The future belongs to innovations and we are glad to be amongst the most advanced regions. We are confident that the synergy of sports and technologies within the tournament will be not just as an interesting modern show in demand. The technological solutions developed and realized jointly with the Games of Future will be in demand in related areas which will make it possible to improve the republic’s dwellers quality of life”, – commented Ayrat Khayrulin, Tatartstan’s Minister of Digital Development.
”The combination of physical and digital is the reality we’ve been living in for quite some time. Even the most conservative sports disciplines with long history are using state-of-the art technologies to make their sport more attractive and interesting for the spectator. At the same time the sites of sports infrastructure must meet the specific demands of phygital disciplines and I am glad that Kazan is ready to meet them”, – added the project manager of the Games of Future Igor Stolyarov.
Testing competitions in football double-event – EA FIFA + mini football, in basketball – EA NBA + 3×3 basketball, in drone racing and in Beat Saber, a VR rhythmic game, are to be held in September 2022.
Let’s remind that the organizer of the inaugural Games of Future was announced at a solemn ceremony held in June within the 25th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. More than 40 regions got interested in the project, half of them 29 submitted their bids. Five cities Moscow made it to the short-list: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Kaluga and the federal territory Sirius.
